Accomodations

The following accommodations are some of the accommodations available to students with dyslexia.

  • Oral Administration of content area tests
  • Extended time for completing assignments and tests
  • Substitute oral reports for written assignments
  • Avoid penalizing for spelling errors in written reports
  • Avoid penalizing for handwriting
  • Provide a peer tutor
  • Break tasks into smaller parts
  • Use manipulatives to explain and reinforce concepts
  • Note-taking assistance
  • Allow cursive handwriting instead of manuscript
  • Allow extra time to process and recall
  • Allow alternate assignments
  • Check for understanding
  • Provide recordings of assigned reading
  • Reduced quantity of reading
  • Avoid timed tests
