Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

  • The objective of the CISD Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Academy is to provide students with a general understanding of production, processing, engineering, technology, marketing, distribution and development of agricultural commodities
  • Students will be given the opportunity to participate in Supervised Agricultural Experiences
  • Students participate in Future Farmers of American (Career and Technical Student Organization)
  • Students have the opportunity to receive the following Industry Based Certifications:
    • OSHA 10 hour General Safety
    • Texas Cattle Feedyard Technician (Cattle Care and Handling and Machinery Operation, Repair and Maintenance)
    • Texas Floral Certifications
    • American Welding Society D-9.1 Certifications
  • Students have the potential to compete in supervised events and earn thousands of dollars in scholarships each year

Culinary Arts

Business, Finance and Marketing Academy

  • The objective of the Business and Technology Academy is to prepare students to plan, direct and coordinate the management of public and private business.
  • Students have the opportunity to receive the following Industry Based Certifications:
    • Microsoft Office Suite Certification
  • Students can participate in Business Clubs and UIL activities associated with business skills
  • Students can experience work based learning opportunities through participation in PRO internships (Pursuing Real Opportunities) and working in the school store

  • Includes a brand new commercial kitchen and instruction area
  • Students learn the fundamentals and principles of cooking and baking
  • Students are exposed to management production skills and techniques
  • Students have the opportunity to earn ServSafe Management certification
  • Students in advanced culinary arts receive in-depth instruction of industry-driven standards to prepare for success in higher education or immediate industry employment
Construction Technology

Construction Technology

  • The objective of the CISD Construction Academy is to provide students a general knowledge and skill set related to construction fields
  • Students receive OSHA general industry certification and carpentry certification
  • Exposure to skills in electrical and plumbing trades
  • Professional mentors to assist in skill development
  • Partnering with local individuals and businesses will also be pursued to establish sponsorships, internships, and secondary education scholarships
Cosmetology

Cosmetology

  • State of the art center
  • 2-year program
  • Students integrate academic career and technical knowledge in a laboratory instructional course
  • The cosmetology course is designed to provide job specific training or employment
  • Instruction includes sterilization and sanitization procedures for hair cair, nail care, and skincare
  • Cosmetology 2 students are given the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency to achieve the department of licensing and regulation requirements for passing the state exam
Health Science

Health Science

  • Provides an overview of the therapeutic, diagnostic, health informatics, support services and biotechnology research
  • Students can take courses in medical terminology and anatomy & physiology
  • Students also receive the opportunity to participate in clinical experiences
  • Interested students can also obtain emergency medical technician (EMT) and certificate nurses aid (CNA)

Culinary Arts

STEM Academy

  • Students in the STEM academy can take courses in computer programming and Engineering
  • Engineering students earn 12 hours of dual credit and scholarship money from West Texas A&M’s award winning engineering program
  • Students in computer programming classes learn Python and Java
  • Students can compete in robotics competitions and several other UIL activities associated with technology
