Does My Child Qualify?

    • Prior STAAR performance
    •  Academic records (including credits earned)
    •  Attendance history
    • 9th - 12th grade students
  • Notification will be sent at the end of each week  to students who have applied.

  • Enrollment for Spring 2026 semester is now open.

Program Structure

  • Attendance requirements are determined by TEA and may include flexible scheduling. Students will be required to enter their attendance in a form daily.

  • Yes. STAAR is required for all 9th-12th grade students, including those enrolled in CISD Choice. Students who do not meet passing standards must complete tutoring hours the following school year.

  • If there are no STAAR assessment results for evaluation, other assessments could be considered or provided to your student for further evaluation.

  • All students in Texas, including virtual learners, are required to participate in STAAR testing as mandated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

  • Yes. Students will have access to:

    • Virtual and in-person tutoring
    • Office hours with teachers
    • Small-group sessions throughout the year
  • Yes, dual credit is offered though Amarillo College for all CISD students.

  • Students requiring special services may receive appropriate accommodations.

  • Google Classroom and Edgenuity

  • Yes. Canyon ISD has dedicated virtual teachers who support students throughout the school year.

  • Students have a flexible schedule but must check in each day for attendance purposes. Some students may be assigned different times for tutoring due to a lack of progress or grades, as well as a 15-minute time a week that is set up with the teachers.

  • GPA calculation used to determine class rank shall exclude grades earned in an online learning course.  Students enrolled in CISD Choice will not be considered for class rank.

  • Flexible scheduling is available to meet the needs of the students. A full virtual program is available.

  • Students would have the option to return to attending school on campus.  

    Due to extenuating circumstances, a student could return to the campus at the end of the semester to transition back to a Canyon ISD campus.

Homeschool Transition

  • Students enrolled in CISD Choice:

    • All credits earned are from an accredited public school and accepted at all public schools in Texas
    • Receive instruction and support from a certified teacher using an advanced curriculum
    • Expanded course offerings, such as Career and Technology Education and Dual Credit courses
    • No cost to parents
  • To be enrolled in Canyon Choice, a student must be enrolled full time in Canyon Choice.

  • We welcome previously homeschooled students. Proper documentation and enrollment  will be required.
