About Canyon ISD

The Canyon Independent School District serves two communities, Canyon and Amarillo, in Randall County of the Texas Panhandle. The district covers a large area, which encompasses 732 square miles. The north end of the district has 7 campuses in south Amarillo that offer immediate access to city amenities, while those in the city of Canyon offer a small-town atmosphere with easy access to the city. In the city of Canyon there are 5 campuses, and 3 campuses are located in between the two cities.
The Canyon ISD community is well known for its commitment to children and education. Within district attendance boundaries, new homes and new neighborhoods abound. Many new families move into the Canyon ISD attendance area because of the reputation of the schools and the quality of life found here. The school district is a learning community, providing opportunities for all students and staff to reach their learning potentials.

Our Goals

  • All instructional personnel will implement CISD curriculum as powered by the Texas Resource System for all core areas and TEKS curriculum calendars for all other instructional areas.
  • All instructional personnel will establish challenging goals for all students and provide effective feedback through timely assessments and system of interventions.
  • All CISD personnel will promote effective parental and community involvement through communication, participation, and partnerships in accomplishing the district’s goals.
  • A safe and orderly environment will be maintained, supported, and continuously improved by all CISD personnel.
  • All CISD personnel will work professionally in high performing collaborative teams whose members work interdependently to improve both adult and student learning.
