Public comment at a Board meeting generally occurs at the beginning of a meeting. (See Board Policy BED)

The start time of all Board meetings, which may vary, is found on the posted notice located at www.canyonisd.net or posted on the door of the District Support Center. Notice and agenda will be posted three business days prior to the date of the meeting.

When the presiding officer announces a speaker by name for public comment, the individual shall:

·         step to the podium and speak clearly into the microphone

·         state first and last name

·         address and face the Board directly

·         stop speaking when the timer indicates the end of allotted time

If a member of the public wishes to address a topic involving a pending grievance or a complaint regarding specific district personnel, the individual should seek resolution through the grievance process and address the Board only at the appropriate stage of that process.

(See Board Policy DGBA, FNG, and GF)

Rules of order and decorum will be enforced during the public comment period to ensure efficient meetings.  Unlawful or disruptive conduct, including interrupting scheduled speakers, speaking out of turn, or interfering with the rights of others, will not be tolerated.  Each participant is legally responsible for the content and consequences of his or her own statements.
