Canyon Independent School District Honors Board of Trustees During School Board Recognition Month

This January, Canyon Independent School District proudly joins the statewide celebration of School Board Recognition Month. It’s the perfect opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Canyon ISD Board of Trustees for their dedication to our students, staff, and community, aligning with our mission of empowering lifelong success.

“We are deeply appreciative of the leadership and guidance our school board members provide,” says Superintendent Dr. Darryl Flusche. “Their efforts consistently focus on the future success of our students. School Board Recognition Month allows us to formally say thank you for their tireless commitment to our district.”

The devoted members of the Canyon ISD Board of Trustees are:

• Jenni Winegarner, President, serving since 2019

• Matt Parker, Vice-President, serving since 2021

• Laurie Gilliland, Secretary, serving since May 2023

• Casey Posey, Associate Secretary, serving since May 2023

• Katharyn Wiegand, Member, serving since 2011

• Mandi Palmer, Member, serving since October 2023

• Randy Davis, Member, serving since May 2024

These exceptional individuals volunteer their time to guide the district and serve as advocates for the success of every student. Their responsibilities include overseeing district operations, hiring qualified educators, ensuring facilities are safe and functional, and allocating resources responsibly.

Additionally, they invest countless hours reading detailed reports, learning complex educational laws, understanding the needs of our community, and setting meaningful goals. Board members also fulfill extensive training requirements, demonstrating their dedication to excellence in governance.

“Our community is fortunate to have such dedicated leaders who prioritize the education and well-being of our children,” says Dr. Flusche. “I encourage everyone to join us in recognizing and thanking our Board of Trustees for their service.
