Canyon ISD and Amarillo College Launch Badger Bound Scholarship
Free College Opportunity Now Available for CISD Students

Canyon ISD students now have the opportunity to attend college tuition-free through Amarillo College’s new Badger Bound Scholarship. The program covers up to 45 college credit hours, including tuition, fees, books, and course materials.

Beginning with this year’s Class of 2026, CISD graduates who complete 15 hours of dual credit through Amarillo College while in high school will automatically qualify. Eligible students must enroll at Amarillo College the summer or fall after graduation and have up to three years to complete 45 college hours, the equivalent of an associate degree.

“This initiative reflects exactly what empowering lifelong success means for Canyon ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Darryl Flusche. “By removing financial barriers, students gain access to college and career pathways that set them up for a strong start after high school.”

One CISD senior shared, “Before this opportunity, I didn’t know what I was going to do. Now I have a plan and a way to pay for it.”

Counselors are emailing students who have already completed 15 or more dual credit hours. Staff are also meeting with students who are on track to complete 12 or more hours to help them understand how they can still qualify.

“Badger Bound gives our students a head start,” Dr. Flusche added. “They can graduate high school already on their way to earning a degree. That is what empowering lifelong success looks like.”

Families should reach out to their campus counselor for guidance about eligibility and next steps.
