Just the Facts

Just The Facts

Canyon ISD has created this webpage to share facts about Canyon ISD, and emerging issues and topics associated with the District.
We know questions arise from time to time, and we strive to provide accurate, timely information. As a reminder, Canyon ISD has many ways to stay connected. Please continue to visit the Canyon ISD website, follow us on social media channels, and look for email communication from us.  We are happy to speak with you about questions, concerns, and input.

We Want You To Know

Availability of the Bible in our schools:

You may have seen news or social media posts circulating about the availability of the Bible in our schools, and we want to make sure you have accurate information directly from us.

Recent reports claiming Canyon ISD has removed the Bible from our schools don’t tell the whole story. The Bible has always been, and continues to be, available in our schools to support instructional resources and meet all Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) requirements. This longstanding practice has not changed. Additionally, our libraries contain books about the Bible, including Bible stories, which remain available to our students.

Following the passage of House Bill 900, Canyon ISD conducted a comprehensive review of library materials to ensure compliance with updated state guidelines.

After receiving clarification from Representative Patterson regarding library content, we reevaluated the guidelines and are pleased to have the Bible available in each of our Canyon ISD libraries.

We appreciate your continued support of our district and our mission to empower lifelong success for every student.
